Rosemary Jean
Duffy
Jul 28, 1941 — Aug 29, 2023
Rosemary Jean Duffy went home to Jesus on August 29, 2023, at age 82.
Rosemary was born to James and Rose Holdcroft on July 28, 1941, in Olean, New York. As a child, Rosemary enjoyed life on the farm with her parents and brothers along the Allegheny River until they grew tired of the cold winters and moved to sunny Southern California at the age of 2. Rosemary traveled with her mother on the S.S. Franconia to visit her parents' homeland of England at the age of 8 where she met her cousins, aunts, uncles, and grandparents for the first time. Her parents began a tradition of camping in Yosemite Valley each summer that Rosemary loved so much that she carried it into her own family.
Rosemary met her husband, Charles "Harold" Duffy in 1959 in San Pedro. They married on December 23, 1960, and went on to have four children, Richard, Robert, Sheri, and Shelley. Harold was drafted into the Army and they were stationed in Germany for 18 months within their first years of marriage. They returned to San Pedro in 1962 where Richard, Robert, and Sheri were born. They moved to Fallbrook in 1973 where Shelley was born.
Throughout her entire life, she held an unwavering faith in God, which she shared with those who surrounded her. The Duffy's were highly active in their church community of LifePointe Church, formerly Fallbrook First Baptist Church. Rosemary served as the head of the Vacation Bible School program, a women's ministry leader, and a deaconess in the 50 years she attended the church.
In addition to being a dedicated and loving wife and mother, Rosemary also loved her job as a hairstylist, serving the women of Fallbrook with talented hands, a listening ear, and a heart of service.
Rosemary joins her mother and father, brother Brian Holdcroft, and sisters-in-law Pat and Connie Holdcroft in Heaven, She is survived by the family she loved with all her heart; her husband Harold; her brother Eric; children Richard, Robert, Sheri, and Shelley; their spouses Jody, Beth, Bill, and Keith; her beloved grandchildren: Tiffany, Scott, Colton, Charlie, Tyler, Rose, Will, Andrew, Audrey and Caleb; and her prized great-grandchildren Luke, Clara, Cliff, Henry, Livia, Max, and Grayton.
Her family will be laying Rosemary to rest in a private graveside service. Everyone is invited to celebrate a life well lived on Saturday, September 9, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. at LifePointe Church located at 221 N. Pico Ave. Fallbrook, CA 92028. Her family requests that all in attendance dress casually in purple, Rosemary's favorite color.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Hope Clinic in Fallbrook or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital .
