Obituary

Bob was born to William and Effie Gomez, on Tuesday, July 2, 1935, in La Salle, Colorado. He was the fifth of eight children and spent his first years on a farm. Later his family moved to Denver, Colorado. From elementary school through high school he lived on the west side of Denver.

He loved his family and friends very much. His earliest memories were of his brother Bill and his sister Shirley being the best of friends. His friendship with others crossed all boundaries, genders, ethnicity, and ages. He was not afraid to stand up for what was right and loved helping people.

He joined the U.S.M.C. in 1954 as a way to see the world. When he was honorably discharged in 1957, he settled in the Denver area. His first marriage produced his first four children Bobby Jr, Kyle, Kelle, and Les.

He was a serious worker and used his skills as a sheet metal worker to provide for his family. Later, after his first marriage ended, he spent his time being with his children. He also worked with his brother Bill flipping real estate.

In 1985 he was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses. One year later he married the love of his life, Edie. They raised their children, Leesha and Paul in Colorado. They moved as a family to California in 1988. Sadly their daughter, Leesha, passed away from illness in 1991. This broke Bob's heart, but the hope for the future that Leesha would be resurrected, helped him and his family cope with the loss.

A few years later in 1993, they moved as a family to Fallbrook, California. There he found a large spiritual family attending meetings at the local Kingdom Hall. He spent the following years traveling with his love, Edie, and teaching many people about God's Kingdom. He also loved watching the Broncos play on Sundays with his son Paul.

He wanted everyone around him to be happy and hope in Jehovah's promise for the future. As time went on, Bob became very ill and for the last few years he fought for his life. During this time, however, he still kept his hope and love for others alive. At the end, surrounded by his loving wife, son Paul, daughter-in-law Jen, and his spiritual family, he lost his fight on May 3rd, 2016, which was also their 30th wedding anniversary.

He was proud of his children and his family. He looked forward to the time when the prophecy at Isaiah 33:24 which says, 'No resident will say: "I am sick." ', will be fulfilled.

Bob lived his life on his own terms from the time he was able to drive. Till the very end he paved his own way. It is in the promised paradise that we will welcome him back and again see his smiling face, shining eyes and hear his laughter. Until that time, there will be a void that only his resurrection will fill.
