Obituary

Richard Joseph Mojado, "Onnie", 72, of Pala, passed away on June 23, 2014 in Pala.

Born in the Soboba Indian Hospital in San Jacinto, CA, he lived his entire life in Pala.

He joined the U.S. Army from 64'-66'. He married Brenda Murdock Mojado in the St. Helen's Catholic Church in Roosevelt, Utah. They had two children, Lawrence and Trina. Onnie loved playing Peon, a traditional gambling game, and he loved his baseball. He loved to cruise around Pala and the surrounding areas.

Onnie is survived by his son, Lawrence W. Mojado II, daughter Trina Mojado, grandchildren Shawnee Smith, Leander Miner, Erika Mojado, Sharee Miner, Darren Mojado, his sisters Shirley Kolb and Julia Trujillo, many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and many other loving family and friends.

Onnie was preceded in death by his wife, Brenda, mother Dorothy Mojado, brother Lawrence W. Mojado, sister Sandra Jean Burton, and grandchildren A.J. Smith and Rainey Williams.

A vigil service with rosary will take place Friday, June 27, 7:00 pm, and funeral mass Saturday, June 28, 10:00 am, both at the Mission San Antonio de Pala in Pala, CA. Burial with military honors will follow at the Pala Indian Cemetery.
