Obituary

Orrin John Brossard was born on December 17, 1919 in Mayville, Wisconsin. He was the oldest of five siblings, having celebrated his 99th birthday just two days before passing away in Fallbrook, California on December 19, 2018.

Orrin led a very full life, and was loved by his family, and countless friends that he faithfully stayed in touch with over the years. He and his three younger brothers and sister grew up in Fox Lake, Wisconsin, and he often talked about what a great childhood they had living on a lake. Their home was the center of activity in the summer and winter, with neighborhood kids leaving their ice skates in the basement and using the dock by their home as a diving board to go swimming. He was very athletic and was good at just about every sport that he participated in beginning at a young age. Legend has it that he held the record for the number of athletic letters held by one individual at Fox Lake High School for several years after he graduated, having played various sports, including football, baseball and basketball. He loved to watch football, and was a loyal Green Bay Packers fan, something he passed along and shared with his grandson, but also supported the San Diego Chargers as his local team.

He loved to work and was a dedicated and successful employee. After joining and serving in the Navy during World War II as a Pharmacist's Mate in San Diego, California, his first actual "career" job was as a pharmaceutical sales representative for nearly 40 years, which he thoroughly enjoyed.

When retirement age came upon him, he took advantage of staying home for a very short time, then decided that a life without work was not for him. He applied for, and quickly became employed by a local bank as a courier picking up deposits from the bank's numerous business clients throughout Fallbrook and the surrounding areas. Over the next 20+ years, as the bank went through a number of acquisitions, Orrin commuted to the main branch in Escondido, and for the final years he worked, sorted, delivered and prepared inter-office mail transmittals until his second retirement age of 95. His co-workers were like family to him and he dearly loved staying in touch with them on a regular basis, especially with "his ladies" that were all considered "his favorite" – and to him each one was in their own special way.

Orrin is survived by two brothers and a sister, his daughter and her husband, grandson, granddaughter-in-law and three great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, as well as a stepdaughter, two step grandsons, and two step-great grandchildren.
