Obituary

Meredith Louise Snapp was born on May 26, 1949 in San Antonio TX. To Herman Thorton Snapp and June Margaret Rice. Her husband of 39 years, Donald Joseph Avery, Two sons Joseph Avery and Curtis Avery, and daughter –in-law Gina Avery as well as her Japanese Daughter Rika Masuda and Brother in-law Wayne and Carolyn Avery and Brother Paul Snapp survived her. She has two Grandchildren: Joseph Avery Junior and Jason Taylor. Nearing the end Little Joe (8 weeks old) was definitely the brightest Gem in her crown.

A dedicated corporate wife during Don's 39 year career with SC Johnson Wax, She raised Joe and Curtis single handed as he traveled extensively domestically and internationally. Don's career required several moves which included San Francisco (where they met in 1974), Chicago, Racine WI (three different times) and Hawaii. While in Hawaii Meredith Volunteered to Cosponsor the States Tall ship parade with Actor Patrick Duffy and was commended personally buy Gov.Arioshi. During the International years Meredith accompanied Don on business trips to Hong Kong, The Philippines, Japan, Australia and Rio de Janeiro. Meredith also attended a culinary tour to several European countries.

Anyone who met Meredith could tell you how smart she was. Starting with graduation from L D Bell High school, Dallas –Ft Worth in 1967. She got her Associate degree from Alverno College in Milwaukee and then earned a culinary certification from Orange Coast College in 2000. Her Chef skills served her well coordinating and doing Volunteer work with the Fallbrook Woman's club.

Upon Don's retirement from Johnson Wax in 2006 Meredith was accepted to serve on the standing San Diego Grand Jury for one year. She then became very involved with the Past Grand Jury Association and served as there President for four years. Meredith was very competitive and an avid football fan. She loved the Green bay Packers and was able to attend three Super bowls. Perhaps her greatest recreational love was Las Vegas where we were married on January 31, 1976. We traveled to the El Cortez Casino every two months where we received free room and food for many years. We actually won occasionally. Her other big passion was playing Mah Jongg. For those not familiar with Mah Jongg, One game takes about 3 hours to complete and we would often play two games in one night with Wayne and Carolyn.

Finally, I have to thank God for leading us to Fallbrook in retirement. We found Inland Hills Church and a group of new friends who helped us find spiritual peace and fellowship. Meredith Once again stepped up and volunteered with numerous church functions where she developed lifelong friends. We were also blessed to meet and become very close with the finest neighbors of our lives, Rocky and Jesse.

We have all been richly blessed to have Meredith in our lives and she will always be remembered and loved by those of us who had the privilege of knowing her. While pulling this information and history together I fell in Love with her all over again.
