A Beautiful Life Story
"Kolten Charles Malbrough"
Kolten Charles Malbrough was born September 5, 1997 at Marine Corp Base Camp Pendleton in Oceanside, California to Eric Charles and Marci Denise Malbrough. Kolten's heavenly arrival completed their family of four when he was presented to his loving big brother, Tre Hunter.
The light in Kolten's eyes, the light of his smile and the essence of his soul impacted everyone he encountered. His signature curly locks caressed his beautiful face and moved with joy as part of such a beautiful soul. The love that exuded from Kolten captured everyone who had an opportunity to be in his presence, whether it was for 23 seconds or 23 years.
Many have said Kolten was an angel on earth and a young man with an old soul. He was observant, caring, kind and generous. He would go out of his way to make sure everyone else was ok and put others ahead of himself. He took the time to say a kind word where it was needed and was always looking to make a difference. He had such a passion for life and shared his light wherever he would go. He was talented, funny, and had an infectious laugh. He was good at everything he did; from sports to snowboarding, to music and drawing.
Kolten loved spending time with his family and enjoyed being goofy and dancing while hanging out with his friends. He had a passion for skateboarding; it was his escape. His friends said he would skate for hours and wouldn't give up until he could nail a trick. He loved any and everything dealing with music, being from San Diego, and having a fresh haircut. He loved his yellow 1990 Corvette (Daisy) and shared his love of cars with his dad and his Grandpa (Paw-Paw). There was always playful banter during their conversations about which was best, Chevy or Ford. He loved his Louisiana heritage, his dad's gumbo and fried fish, and would stop by his Nana's house for a good ole southern cooked meal. He had fond memories of playing in the snow and riding horses with his Grandma and Papa and fishing and crabbin with his Paw-Paw and Meme. Kolten loved his mom greatly; she was the very heartbeat to every step he took. He centered himself on his parents and carried the very best of both of them. He loved being mixed with black and white and was proud of everything his parents did; it was the running joke with his friends ("Kolten, We Know, We Know!!!").
Kolten knew how to make you feel special in a room full of people. When he hugged you, it was all about you in that moment. He knew how to draw you in without saying many words, with that sparkle in his eyes and his sweet, unforgettable, sly smile. His friends have said "Kolten was different than anyone they have ever met". Indeed, Kolten carried a light that you seldom see and now the earth is a bit dimmer without it.
Kolten Charles Malbrough is preceded in death by his Uncle Mark Malbrough and his "Paw-Paw" Anvil Gabriel Malbrough. Left to cherish his memory are his parents Eric Charles Malbrough and Marci Denise Malbrough; his brother Tre Antonio Hunter; Grandparents Freida Malbrough Lewis (JW Lewis), Shirlee Wilford, Dennis "Denny" Wilford, and Debra "Meme" Malbrough; Uncle Gary Scott Malbrough (Girlene); and Aunts Rachelle Malbrough Ellison (Gary) and Junell Lee Roberts. Kolten leaves a host of cousins and many friends and family to continue his memory of the time he shared his light on this earth.
Rest well sweet Kolten (Koob, Kolt, Kolty), we love you and your presence will be forever missed until we meet again.
