Julie B. Jones, 88, of Fallbrook, California, wife of Donald E. Jones, died at home suddenly and peacefully on December 1, 2015.
She was born in Trinidad, Colorado, on July 27, 1927, the youngest daughter of Roderick P and Juanita E. Martinez. Wearing a powder-blue suit and matching pillbox hat, she arrived in San Francisco by train when she was 18 years old. She immediately fell in love with the Pacific Ocean and palm trees. She made her way to Southern California. She met her husband Don while working at McDonnell Douglas. Together they raised three children and a granddaughter. Throughout her life she was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, as well as a shrewd business woman. After years working at McDonnell Douglas, Woolworth's and Sears, Julie achieved a dream by owning and operating Resthaven Park RV and Mobile Home Lodge in Paso Robles with Don. After more than fifteen years of managing her lodge, she retired to Fallbrook, CA.
A life-long learner and avid reader, Julie was proud of achieving her certificate to teach CCD at St. Rose of Lima in Paso Robles, often teaching with an arm around a restless child. She also traveled internationally whenever possible—making life-long friends along her travels with whom she regularly corresponded. She had a wry sense of humor and her family will miss her answering the phone and informing them that she was busy eating chocolates and reading dirty magazines.
Surviving is her husband, Donald E. Jones; son, Kenneth E. Jones; daughter Nanci K. Walker (Richard Walker); daughter-in-law Janet Jones; grandchildren Dami An Jones (Michael O'Neill), Kenna Heuer (Jules Heuer), Rocky Jones (Kendra Smith), RJ Walker, Sophia Nichols, Amanda Walker, and Sam Jones; great-granddaughters Jonesie O'Neill, Kenzey Heuer, Taylor Jones; and great-grandsons Jameson Heuer, Alexander O'Neill, Blake Jones, and Riff Nichols. She is preceded in death by her parents and one son, Roderick P. Jones. Also preceding her in death are two brothers, John and Roderick Martinez, and one sister, Ruth Troop.
