Harry M. Perez was born in New York City, New York, to Michael Perez and Marcelina Silvagnoli on October 5, 1931.
An avid Yankee fan, he grew up on West 54th Street in New York City playing stickball and idolizing the Yankee greats. He could often be found hanging out with his friends at Coney Island and Central Park.
After graduating from high school, he joined the United States Air Force, where he served from 1951-1955. He received an honorable discharge and returned to New York to marry his high school sweetheart, Angelina Rethaber. In 1960, he and Angie moved to California and settled in Redondo Beach where they raised two beautiful children, Lisa and Edward. Harry continued his career with the Northrop Corporation as a photographer and graphic artist and was well known as the office practical joker. After 35 years at Northrop, Harry retired and was recognized for his numerous innovative ideas for improving photo lab and lithography processes.
Harry is known for his brilliant, creative mind and insatiable sense of humor. He enjoyed photography, painting, collecting, dismantling, restoring, and fixing things. He also loved walking around the neighborhood and befriended everyone he met. Harry thrived on being social and was always willing to help anyone in need.
In January 2017, he and Angie left their beloved Redondo Beach home and moved into an assisted living facility in Fallbrook, where they became known and loved by the residents and staff.
During his final years, Harry's once brilliant mind suffered the devastating effects of dementia and Alzheimer's Disease. He was blessed to have loving caregivers and, surrounded by loved ones, eventually succumbed to the disease on June 29, 2018.
He is survived by his sister, Nancy Parleto (Andrew), his wife of 63 years, Angelina, daughter, Lisa (Shane), son Edward (Amanda), and five grandchildren, Brittany, Edward, Cassie, Emma, and Benjamin.
