Gerald was born on February 21st, 1955 in Fort Crowder, Missouri to Charles and Ruth Barker. Part of his early childhood was spent in England and Germany. He graduated from Eisenhower High School in Lawton, Oklahoma in 1973. He graduated from Cameron University with both an Associate in Science and a Bachelor of Science in 1977. He taught at both Cameron University in Lawton and also at Oklahoma State University in Stillwater. Gerald worked for 35 years as a computer software consultant for the space and defense industry.

He married LaVonne Teresse Barker on October 1st, 1981 at the Holy City of the Witchitas in the Chapel at Medicine Park, Oklahoma. God called him to his eternal home as he slept on the early morning of April 25th, 2018.

He is survived by his wife of 36 years in Pala, California, his daughter, Cathy and her husband, Joe Manuszak of Placentia, California, his son, Chuck Newvine and his wife, Rosie of San Antonio, Texas, and his only Grandchild, Hope Manuszak of Placentia, California, and his sister, Edith Marie Wade of Lawton, Oklahoma, and his brother, Keith Richard Barker of Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents and his older brother, Charles Barker Junior.

To the family, Gerald was always the "genius" of computers. But even more outstanding, he will be remembered by his family for his loving, unselfish, giving ways. The light of Gerald's life will never be gone as he will always be remembered by loved ones.
