Elizabeth Louise
Gloady
Apr 5, 1938 — Mar 14, 2022
A resident of Fallbrook for about 60 years, Elizabeth Louise Gloady, loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, passed away on Monday, March 14, 2022. She was 83 years old.
She was born in Washington, Pennsylvania, on April 5, 1938, to parents Ralph and Juanita Morris. Not long after graduating high school, Elizabeth married her high school sweetheart, Richard. They actually met at the age of 12 and 13, and they were together for 70 years, married for 64 of those.
The wife of a U.S. Marine, Elizabeth found herself stationed in South Carolina, Trinidad (the West Indies), North Carolina, and finally, California, when Richard was assigned to Camp Pendleton. Along the journey, each of their four children was born at different duty station. As a Marine Corps wife, she also found herself in the role of both mother and father when Richard was sent overseas for 12-month stints on three different occasions.
In 1962, the couple moved to Fallbrook, where they became members of the community and raised their four children, each of whom graduated from Fallbrook High School. Elizabeth worked a couple of different jobs while living in the town, but she is perhaps best known for the many years she spent as the office manager at what was L&M Fertilizer Company. After retiring, she and Richard volunteered their time at the local VFW Hall, serving in various positions. Elizabeth also served as president of the Women's Auxiliary.
When Elizabeth and Dick were fully retired, they loved traveling. They traveled to the Canary Islands, through the Panama Canal on a cruise, and to several vacation spots throughout Mexico, just to name a few. Her favorite vacation, however, was using their timeshare in Puerto Vallarta, where they would spend up to 12 weeks a year—six weeks in the spring and six weeks in the fall.
Elizabeth is survived by her sister, Jackie Longo of Pittsburgh, PA; her four children: Kim, Shawn, Rick, and Pam; and her six grandchildren: Shane, Jared, Kayla, Lauren, Spenser, and Christina. She also leaves behind a 2-year-old great-grandson, Lennon.
She will be interred with Richard at Miramar National Cemetery on Thursday, April 21, with a service set for 11:30 a.m.
