Dick Hemley was born in Texas in 1932 to Myron and Otilia Hemley.
While in high school Dick met his High School sweetheart, Dolly. After graduating from high school in 1951 Dick joined the Navy. While in the Navy, aboard the USS Montrose, he trained for and performed underwater welding.
In 1952 he and Dolly were married. Dick and Dolly started a family in 1953 which grew to include 4 children – Karen, Dick Wayne, Terri and Myron. After leaving the Navy they lived on the family farm in Columbus, New Mexico until Dick joined the Border Patrol in 1966. After graduating from the Border Patrol academy, the family moved to California. Initially stationed in Chula Vista, the family relocated to Fallbrook in 1969 due to Dick being transferred to Temecula. Dick retired in 1987 after rising to the rank of Senior Supervisory Patrol Agent. Over the years he enjoyed getting together and having conversations with many of the fellow retired Border Patrol Agents that had also been stationed in Temecula.
Dick is predeceased by his father, Myron and mother Otilia, and siblings, Myron, Allen, Barbara and, Eleanor. Dick is survived by his wife of 65 years, Dolly, their 4 children, Karen (William) of El Dorado Hills, California, Dick Wayne of Fallbrook, Terri of Folsom, California and Myron of nearby Temecula, and a crazy cat, Willow.
