David will be missed by many for his captivating stories and his canny sense of humor.   Even after 42 years in America, his Scottish Accent was as broad as the day he left Scotland.

David was born in Barrhead, Scotland where he served his apprenticeship as a joiner (carpenter).

After completing his training in the Royal Airforce, he immigrated to Canada and settled in Winnipeg, Manitoba.  After finding out that Winnipeg was even colder than Scotland, he decided to head south.  In February 1960, he crossed the border and headed to San Diego, a place that he had heard about from a stranger's random conversation in a pub.

Returning to Scotland on vacation, he was given the opportunity to immigrate to South Africa.  It was there he met his wife, Marillyn.   David spent the next 10 years as a highly successful spec builder while raising a family of one son and three daughters.

After watching a movie on Australia, the family decided that Australia would offer them a better life.  They settled in Perth, Western Australia.  David was offered a job travelling to remote locations to build mobile homes that were utilized for hospitals and schools for the local aboriginals.

In the late 70's, it was decided that the family would relocate to San Diego, a place that David never forgot.  The family settled in Vista, California, where he was an accomplished builder operating as Laird McLintock Builders.   In addition, he was an instructor at Palomar College for over twenty years teaching blueprint reading, estimating and construction mathematics.

David loved birds and was a member of the North County Aviculturists and the Finch Club of San Diego.   He was very proud of the fact that his blue faced parrot finches were purchased by the San Diego Zoo and are still breeding there today.

Fishing and Bocce were his other interests.  He was a member of the Oceanside Senior Anglers Club, where he held the record for the biggest barracuda caught.

Besides his family, one of his proudest accomplishments, was that he had been a master mason for over 60 years.  He joined as a mason in the Barrhead Lodge #307, continuing a long family history of Masons that can be traced back to the early 1800's.

He leaves behind his loving wife of over 54 years, Marillyn McLintock  and his devoted children, Hudson McLintock, Monique McLintock, Nicoletta Buonasera and Natasha McLintock and his grandchildren Baylor Buonasera, Rachel McLintock, Annabella Buonasera, Rorke McLintock and Luca Buonasera.

Rest in Peace David because as you said "your life was well spent."
