David Mason Long, 62, resident of Temecula, CA passed away on October 6, 2012. He was born February 19, 1950 in Ashland, KY to Ruth and Edgar Long and later attended Thomas More College in Crestview Hills, KY.
In his youth, David and his father, Edgar, held the national sharp shooting title, and while in the United States Marine Corps, he was awarded a Rifle Expert Badge, National Defense Service Medal, as well as a Good Conduct Medal. David loved meeting and talking with people and will be remembered for his gift of communication. David also greatly enjoyed reading and putting together jigsaw puzzles. He will be missed by many friends.
David is survived by his wife, Janet Long of Pala, CA; daughter, Dena Axton of Temecula, CA; and sister, Anita Ream of Shelby, OH. He was preceded in death by his parents Ruth and Edgar Long.
A visitation will be held from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., Monday, October 15, at Berry-Bell & Hall Mortuary in Fallbrook, CA for his friends and family in California. A visitation will also be held from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., with a funeral service and burial immediately following, on Saturday, October 20, at Wright Funeral Home in Greenup, KY.
