Our mom Clara McAfee, passed away peacefully this morning on August 3, 2018 at Palomar Hospital in Escondido, California from complications of dementia.
Clara McAfee was born January 27, 1932 in Camas, Washington to Carl Peter Suppe and Grace May Kauffman. She grew up on a small farm where her family raised and grew their own food. Times were often tough and the family would travel to different places to pick berries and filberts. In 1951, she moved to Southern California to live with her sister Dorcas. She met and married Edwin B. McAfee and resided in Temple City, CA. Upon his retirement, they moved to Oceanside, CA and ultimately settled in Fallbrook, CA. They greatly enjoyed their retirement, fulfilling a dream of building a custom home close to their grandchildren.
Clara loved spending time with her family and grandchildren. She loved playing scrabble, her roses and always had a beautiful vegetable garden. Our mom was a wonderful woman, strong in her LDS faith and faced life head on. She will be greatly missed!
She was proceeded by death by her loving husband Ed and her sons Mark and Brent.
Clara is survived by her children: Mitch McAfee (Kim), Karen Tavano (Bob), Sandy Turley (Robert) and Marcee Patrick (Brons). Grandchildren: Jackie Ahrend (Jesse), Danielle Correa (Keith), Nick McAfee, Michelle Woodbury (Randy), Marc Tavano (Briana) Jason Tavano, Bryce Tavano, Nicole Baxter (Zack), Blake Turley, Brett Turley, Erik Turley (Hannah), Brandon Bustillos, Kashia Palmer (Riley), Ariel Bowen (Brody), Ataya Bustillos and Tylo Boggs (Jordan), Joaquin Bustillos and 16 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints on Saturday, August 11th at 621 South Stage Coach Lane in Fallbrook, California at 10:00 a.m.
