Betty Joann Lackey passed away peacefully at Regency in Fallbrook, California. She was 92 years old.

Born in Hannibal, Missouri, Joann moved to Fallbrook, California at about age 11, which remained her home for the rest of her life.

Joann was, above all else, an exceptional mother. She believed wholeheartedly in her five sons, supporting their dreams and standing as their biggest fan — she kept newspaper articles and trophies from their achievements, cherishing every milestone along the way.

An accomplished athlete throughout her life, Joann’s greatest passion was bowling. At times she competed in three leagues simultaneously, regularly bowling scores in the mid-200s. In her early years she was an avid horseback rider, and in her later years she became a dedicated artist, painting in both watercolor and oil.

Joann later opened her own restaurant, Joann's, in Idlewild, California — a venture that became a real success.

Joann is survived by her five sons, Robert, David, Michael, Timothy, and Jeffery; 14 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

A private family service will be held on August 17.
