Betty "Maxine"
Chaney
Jan 9, 1927 — Jan 13, 2023
Betty "Maxine" Chaney from Vista, CA passed away 4 days after her 96th birthday, peacefully on 01/13/2023 from natural causes. She is predeceased by her husband, Vaughn Chaney.
Maxine was born Betty Maxine Parsons on 1/9/27 in Omaha, NE to parents Mary & Bill Parsons. Her parents owned a restaurant in Casper, WY, where she attended High School. Maxine lost both parents by the time she was 17 & took over the business. She sold the restaurant when she turned 21. Maxine married her sweetheart, Vaughn, on Valentine's day in 1948 and moved to Chicago, where they lived for 7 years. They joined the Catholic Church together and renewed their vows on their 50th wedding anniversary. From Chicago, they moved to Long Beach, CA where they lived for many years. Maxine worked as a secretary for 21 years - 7 at StarKist foods, 7 at Rachelle Laboratories, & last 7 at Harbor Trading Company where she was a commodities trader (a job she loved). 7 was her "lucky" number. During her time as a secretary, she joined National Secretaries International & became President. Maxine & Vaughn retired & moved to Fallbrook in 1989. Maxine moved to Arcadia Place Senior living in 2010. Maxine had an amazingly caring and generous spirit, which is probably why she made friends so easily. She was a great listener and was always available to offer sound advice. She loved to play cards and would play until all hours of the night. She adopted a toy poodle named Carmie who became her loyal companion. Maxine lived a long and wonderful life. Her beautiful smile and infectious laugh will be dearly missed and always remembered.
