BARBARA JORDAN RUSSELL
28 September 1940 - 24 November 2013
At 4:03 pm on 24 November Barbara Jordan Russell (BJ) passed away while sleeping restfully in her home in Fallbrook following a long and painful fight with cancer.
Barbara was born in St. Elizabeth Hospital in Cook County, Chicago, IL to Robert John Jordan and Edyth Applehans Jordan
BJ graduated from Taft High School, Chicago, IL in 1958, received an Associate Degree from Wright Jr. College in 1964, a Bachelor of Science from Chicago State University in 1966 and she received a Master of Arts in Education from San Diego State University on 28 May, 1981.
Following several visits to California to visit BJ's brother Greg, a Lieutenant in the United States Marine Corps, BJ, her mother Edyth and her daughter Margaret (Peggie) moved to California and purchased a home in Bonsall, CA. BJ then taught elementary school briefly in Rainbow, CA and then permanently in Bonsall, CA.
She was married to Jim Russell on 28 June 1978 at the Ranch House Chapel on Marine Corps Base, Camp Pendleton. Since that union BJ and Jim have resided in Fallbrook, CA.
BJ continued to teach at Bonsall School until she took a leave of absence to work with Jim on their much loved Russell Family Farms in Fallbrook which she has continued until recently.
BJ was active in the community through the Fallbrook Garden Club. While a member she served two terms as co-president, was co-chair of the Flower Show in 2010, chaired the committee to recognize the Garden Club members that had passed in 2011 and 2012, and has continued to serve as the parliamentarian for the Board of Directors.
She is survived by her husband Jim and her six children Peggie, Timothy, Melissa, James, Latitia and Eric and twelve grandchildren.

There will be a celebration of BJ's life at the SonRise Christian Fellowship, 463 S. Stagecoach Lane, Fallbrook, at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday 30 November followed by a reception at the Russell home at 205 Calle Linda in Fallbrook from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m.
