Obituary

Anna Laura Ramirez, age 85, of Fallbrook, California, went into the presence of the Lord on Tuesday, May 3, 2016 at the Temecula Valley Hospital with her husband and daughter at her side.

From her birth on November 6, 1930 in Humacao, Puerto Rico, Anna was known for her loving, joyful, and generous spirit. With her family, she moved to New York City, at the age of seven years old. Her parents, Felix and Laura Ruiz, were proud of their four stunning daughters, Hilda, Anna, Victoria, and Norah. Anna lived and attended elementary and high school in the Bronx, New York City.

As a young teenager of 15, Anna caught a glimpse of a handsome 17-year-old sailor at her church. An introduction was eventually made and they saw each other occasionally until he was deployed by the Navy to the Pacific for two years. When he returned, he called on her and asked her mother permission to date her. They were together ever since. Abe Ramirez and Anna Laura Ruiz were married on July 15, 1950 in New York City.

Anna was completely devoted to her family. She and Abe had three children and lived briefly in Puerto Rico again, before eventually settling in Southern California in 1959. While most of her family thinks of Anna for her amazing Puerto Rican cooking, she was also a multi-talented working woman. As a young woman she worked in a beauty salon, later, as a retail clerk for Sav-On drugstore for 15 years, as a teacher's aide, and most recently as a bilingual Social Services clerk in Orange County.

The role of mother and worker were second nature for Anna, but she was truly at her finest when she became a grandmother. She gave her all to her five grandchildren, saving up all of her vacation time for their summertime visits and frequently traveling across the country to visit them. She gave them an endless supply of wonderful memories, fun, and laughter.

After retirement, she and Abe moved to Fallbrook in 2000 where she enjoyed her community and volunteered with various organizations including the Senior Thrift Store, the Reche Club, the "House of Puerto Rico" in Balboa Park and the United Methodist Church.

Anna is survived by her beloved husband of 65 years, Abe; daughter and son-in-law, Lillian and Tom Bledsoe; son, Randall Ramirez; daughter and son-in-law, Laura and Tony Seesing; grandchildren, Andrea Bundy, Stephanie Seesing, Randy Ramirez, Garret Seesing, and Michael Bledsoe; great-grandchildren, Jonathan and Eva Bundy; Sisters, Hilda Torres, Victoria Ruiz, and Norah Williams; as well as many cherished nieces and nephews.

A memorial service for Anna will be planned for this summer and will be announced soon. Burial will take place at the Fallbrook Masonic Cemetery. Please check back on this website for updated information.

May our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God our Father,
