Obituary

Alice Floreine Holler "Floreine" went home to be with the Lord on June 21, 2020. Floreine was born, and grew up mostly in Crane, Missouri. Later, she moved with her family to Branson, Missouri and graduated from high school there in 1943.

After high school, Floreine was awarded a scholarship to a business school and moved to Springfield, Missouri. Being incredibly determined, while on her own and in business school, she also took a job with a local bank to support herself. When she graduated from business school in 1945, she moved to Pasadena to join her parents who had moved there while she was still in school.

Upon arrival in Pasadena, Floreine worked for an insurance company and concurrently enrolled in Pasadena City College. She majored in music and worked diligently to become an accomplished opera singer, graduating with an associate degree, and holding several recitals in the Los Angeles area.

Floreine would meet her future husband, James Holler "Jim", at the Rose Parade, and they married later that year in 1953. Jim was in the Marine Corps, and Floreine moved with him to his various duty stations around the country. It was at this time that she began a career with the Civil Service. Floreine worked as a court reporter for many years until her retirement from the Civil Service in 1988.

Floreine was also a 40+ year breast cancer survivor, which was also a testament to her determination. Even though she suffered greatly in the latter years of her life, she never stopped serving her family. Rather, Floreine was entirely devoted to her family, putting her own interests aside to care for her husband, and to raise her son. She was also a wonderful chef, and her scalloped potatoes and strawberry pies are unforgettable. Her sacrificial love for her family will be her enduring legacy for generations to come.

Floreine was preceded in death by her husband Jim. She is survived by her son Ivan Holler, loving daughter-in-law Carol Holler, and two grandchildren, Ryan, and Austin Holler.

She will be greatly missed but is finally able to dance in Heaven!
